Organikos Coffee, A Cup That Delivers More Than Exceptional Taste
Organikos connects specialty-grade Costa Rican coffee with a commitment to the landscapes and communities behind it. One hundred percent of profits are reinvested in conservation, with a central focus on regenerating the habitat that native and migratory birds need to thrive.
Through long-term relationships with Costa Rican coffee farmers, Organikos supports a more sustainable and dependable market for their harvests. Select coffees also extend this mission beyond the farm, supporting efforts to protect the country’s coastline in one its most important surf ecosystems.
Every bag delivers more to coffee farmers, and to conservation.
Coffee that Regenerates Bird Habitat
Since Organikos sold its first bag of coffee in 2019, 100% of profits have been invested in the restoration a coffee farm in Costa Rica’s central valley, converting it from conventional to organic and bird-friendly. No chemicals have been used since the work began, and the goal is USDA organic and then Smithsonian bird-friendly certifications. Several more years are required to qualify.
Starting in 2020 we have planted thousands of diverse pollinators and hundreds of fruit trees. Starting in 2026 we planted the first 500 of several thousand coffee plants to be grown organically under shade trees. Together, they create a healthier ecosystem that provides food, shelter, and natural cover for birds.
Every cup helps bring habitat back.

Costa Rica’s First Bird-Friendly Coffee
Hacienda La Amistad was one of the first farms certified by USDA as Organic and as of late 2025 is now also certified by Smithsonian as Bird Friendly. The coffee grows beneath a diverse canopy of fruit and shade trees rather than in cleared, full-sun fields. This slower, forested approach to coffee growing helps protect bird habitat, supports biodiversity, and allows the coffee cherries to mature more gradually. Surrounded by a 23,465-acre forest reserve, its post-harvest processing is powered entirely by renewable energy.
Coffee grown beneath the canopy helps protect forests and preserve habitat for wildlife.
Coffee that Protects the Coast
Our Optimist Surf Reserve line extends the Organikos conservation mission from the mountains to the coast. Proceeds support Save The Waves Coalition’s work at Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica, which was named the first World Surfing Reserve in Central America.
The initiative helps protect the beach’s waves, surrounding coastal ecosystems, biodiversity, and the local community that depends on them. Current efforts include habitat restoration, coastal monitoring, and planning for sustainable, low-impact tourism.
Every cup helps preserve Playa Hermosa.
